Low Calorie Party Food

So football season is back, and we all know that brings with it delicious fattening foods, right? Well, it
doesn’t have to be that way! (Delicious food, yes! Fattening, no way!)

We all know buffalo wings are awesome, yes? At least I do! Problem is, one hot wing (skin included) is
99 calories a pop, but if you eat it without the skin it’s only 34! (So sad- that’s the best part!)

But what if I told you there was a way to make delicious boneless buffalo wings (with a breading!) that
are about 50 calories? It’s easy, I promise. We make these at home all the time, and they’re so good.

Less Guilt Boneless Buffalo Wings
(This is a recipe I modified from a recipe I got from Publix)
Ingredients:
uncooked chicken tenderloins (1 lb.)
Franks RedHot Buffalo Wings Sauce
1/3 cup of cornstarch
2 tbls. of Lawry’s seasoned salt
Margarine (it’s half the calories of butter)
Non-stick pan!
Zip lock bag

(This recipe is super easy to double! Do everything the same, TWICE! Although, be careful how much
cornstarch you use the second time around, use just a little less so that the breading doesn’t become
too thick and soggy)

-Cut the chicken tenderloins in half or in 3rds depending on your preference (the smaller of course
would be less calories.
-Go ahead and set your pan on the stove, and fire that baby up to medium high heat!
-Dump the chicken in the bag, then the cornstarch, and then the seasoning.
-Zip it up and shake it!
-Once the chicken is all equally covered with the mixture, pour in just under half of the bottle of hot sauce.
-Zip it up and shake it again! (Make sure it’s all the way zipped up, or you’ll have a big mess on your hands!)
-Put a tablespoon of margarine in the pan, and watch it sizzle a little, then dump all the contents in the bag
into the pan and spread the chicken out evenly.
-After a little while, you’ll notice the chicken begin to crisp up a little (It’s not going to do it a lot, unless you
add lots and lots of butter or margarine which will defeat the purpose of this recipe. ha!) When you see it
doing this, flip them over.
-Once the other side looks the same, pour in the rest of the hot sauce and mix it all up.
-Let it cook a little longer. The longer you let it cook, the thicker the sauce will get. Be careful though, I’ve
noticed the longer you cook it the more concentrated the hot sauce gets. (Meaning the spicier!)

And there you go! All done! Super messy, delicious, boneless wings! And half the calories than regular
hot wings!

I like to eat mine with blue cheese dressing, and I know others prefer ranch-there’s also a low calorie way to
do both of those!

Blue Cheese Yogurt Dressing
Ingredients:
1 cup plain greek yogurt
1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles
1 tbls. garlic salt
little pepper
(optional poppy seeds)

Mix all ingredients together with a fork, making sure to mash some of the crumbles.

See, super easy and two tablespoons is only 50 calories! Usually blue cheese dressings run about 75 calories
per one tablespoon.

Ranch Yogurt Dressing
Ingredients:
1 cup plain greek yogurt
1 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch Mix

Stir both ingredients together and you’re done! Two tablespoons of this is about 25 calories.
I know, that’s crazy!

The great thing about eating these yogurt dressings is that you’re actually eating a health food! It’s
packed with protein, calcium, and potassium!

I apologize for not having delicious pictures this post, I’ve been exhausted these last few days and my
camera has stayed in it’s cubby over there. Next time I make this, which I’m sure I will soon, I will take
some pictures for you guys!
Keep your eyes out, I’ll be posting more easy healthier versions of party foods like this for a while.
