Recipes-Bread of Life

My husband and I have stepped into a time of fasting, so it would seem strange to post up a recipe for
you guys today. Haha… so instead I’m going to share a little “bread” with you.

In Matthew 4:4 Jesus quotes a scripture that says “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word
that proceeds the mouth of God.” (NKJV) I like the way it’s said in the Amplified – “Man shall not live and
be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Now, my
whole life I’ve heard people preach on the fact that the “word” is the Bible. I’m not saying this is wrong, but
that’s not even the half of it! Yes, the Bible is the word because it was ushered from the mouth of God, but
Jesus is also the word. In John 1:1-4 in the Amplified says “1In the beginning (before all time) was the Word
(Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2He was present originally with God.
3All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made
that has come into being. 4In Him was Life and the Life was the Light of men.” Now, we know that this Word
here is Jesus. So, we’re not to be living by bread (the necessities of life: food, drink, air… etc.) alone, but also
by the scriptures we have revelation on and Jesus. PLUS Matthew 4:4 does say “EVERY word that comes
from the mouth of God”. That means, we need to be hearing directly from Him everyday in order to stay alive.
If not, we can spiritually starve to death.

So, all of that to say–this IS in fact a recipe of the week. It’s a recipe for your spirit. You take all of the bread
given to you here, mix it with the bread coming straight to you from Heaven, and gobble it up.

In Matthew 4:4 the scripture that Jesus quotes is actually Deuteronomy 8:3. I decided to go read this again
this afternoon. (The bread issue is something I research out, think about, and talk about regularly.) I was
amazed yet again reading all of Deuteronomy 8 today-God is speaking very clearly right now about the fact
that we’ve reached our time to come out of this wilderness and into a place of blessing and a prosperous life in
Him. Much of this has been in the spiritual and much of this is beginning to happen in the physical! We’re
aboutto see the wealth of the wicked be placed into the hands of the righteous.
(Proverbs 13:22, Job 27:16-17)
I encourage you to take all of this and talk with God about it. See what He’s saying specifically to you!
With His blessing comes responsibility.

Deuteronomy 8
1 “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and
multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers. 2 And you shall remember
that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to
know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. 3 So He humbled you,
allowedyou to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He
might makeyou know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from
the mouthof the LORD. 4 Your garments did not wear out on you, nor did your foot swell these forty years.
5 You should know in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so the LORD your God chastens you.
6 “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him.
7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs,
that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land
of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a
land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10 When you have eaten and are full, then
you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.
11Beware that you do not forget the LORD your God by not keeping His commandments, His judgments, and
His statutes which I command you today, 12 lest—when you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful
houses and dwell in them; 13 and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are
multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; 14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your
God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; 15 who led you through that great
and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water;
who brought water for you out of the flinty rock; 16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your
fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end—
17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’
18 “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may
establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. 19 Then it shall be, if you by any means
forget the LORD your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this
day that you shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so you shall perish,
because you would not be obedient to the voice of the LORD your God.

I love you guys, and I pray that your ears are open to what God is saying to you in this hour.

  1. Thank you. This is good. Even better than a natural recipe. 🙂 This is life. Perfect timing because tonight I heard from the Lord something that I didn’t want to hear at all, but still I know that if I am obedient it will bring life. His Words are life. They are like a spring in the desert! Thanks for blessing us with this today!
